Timing Blog Posts, eNewsletters and SMS for Maximum Impact

social-media-schedulingIf you have been using blogs, e-newsletters or even SMS to interact with your clients, other businesses or individual customers, you would have noticed that there are times when your posts or newsletters are most effective. Given that these are popular modes of communication between B2B as well as B2C, it is obvious that there is nothing wrong with the strategy but with the execution. Delivery of blogs, e-newsletters or SMS means and includes the time as well as the days of the week when they are posted or sent. Whilst experts believe that each business has to work out its own strategy with regard to these two aspects, there are certain factors that you can consider when timing your blog posts or e-newsletters and the like.

Time for posting Blogs:
With regard to blog posts, it is important to note that there are two types of traffic that you should consider while timing your posts. This includes idle readers as one set and those who comment as the second one. Moreover, timing of your posts should be concurrent with the times at which your readers access the blogs. In other words, you should identify the exact time at which your target audience usually reads the blogs or comments on it and post your blogs accordingly, so that it reaches out to more people. It is also important to note that timing would also depend on the kind of blog that you wish to post. Most people prefer to read informative blogs when they are fresh. Hence, it would help to post them early while posting newsy ones in the middle of the day would be preferable.

Days for Posting Blogs: You should identify the days on which your blogs are read more thoroughly and commented upon. It is often believed that weekends should be avoided for any kind of serious blogs as this is the time most people want to relax. Instead, a lighter blog can attract your readers for weekends. With regard to weekdays, Monday mornings are not really conducive as the individual is in a work mode, which would relegate your blog to the bottom of the reading list. Instead, you could post on Tuesday or the other days of the week, which will help your reader find time from his or her work to read it.

Time and Days for Sending E-newsletters and SMS: As with blogs, it is important to time your e-newsletters and SMS campaigns to ensure maximum focus and readership. Once again, try and avoid weekends for important information as this will not be well received. Good days for sending your e-newsletters would ideally be late Monday mornings or anytime from Tuesdays until Thursday. It is important to note that where the call for action is on a weekday, mails can and should be sent on a Tuesday but if it is for the weekend, it can be sent on Thursdays, as this will give you maximum response.

It is important to note that the days and times mentioned above are mere guidelines that you can work around till you find your own comfort zone. Businesses need to experiment with different timings and days to narrow down on the perfect combination for maximum visibility.
